The cook was good with children. And not even because he was an omega, because Luffy was an omega too and Zoro had never seen kids run to him for anything other than playing.

So the cook was good with kids, whatever, it didn't matter. Except that seeing a tiny baby in curlybrows' arms made his body feel hotter than the sun. He almost feared he had a rut coming in out of the blue even if his cycles are the most regular of the entire crew.

So the shitty cook looked like something divine with a baby in his arms. Whatever. No big deal. Zoro could be normal about it.

That statement got proved entirely wrong when Zoro was, in fact, not normal about it. Or perhaps dreaming about your crewmate (who you "hate") being with a kid on his hip and another on the way was normal. Or perhaps not. Most likely not.

So maybe Zoro wanted to get Sanji pregnant, and maybe that was slightly crazy since they weren't even courting. But he could fix that, he Would fix that. It would take a little while but he would make sure Sanji had a baby in his arms.

Red and pink - Koushiro and Mimi fanfiction

So, today I felt like writing fanfiction - a very cheesy fanfiction to be clear, so I’m sorry for the high level of cheesiness you’re about to see. I imagined Mimi going back to New York and not talking to Koushiro that much, which obviously made them lose their minds, and finally coming to terms with what they feel for eachother...which would reflect in a physical change of appearance. 

I’m also aware that New York is in different time zone, but I was too sloppy to change the timeline of the story, for which I’m also sorry.

I also imagined that them telling each other for the first time they might be in love would also be a little bit sloppy.

When a person falls in love, hopelessly and truly, they change. Sometimes physically, other times in behavior, and in special cases, something inside of them cracks. At least that’s what Koushiro’s mother said to him that night at the kitchen table over omaraisu, a gentle smile plastered over her face at the tought of her son finally  falling in love.

The tought of it for Koushiro was serene, but also terryifing, like swimming out from the bottom of the ocean, finally taking a deep breath but not being at the coast, dry, warm and safe. Even if he’s floating across the water, he could still drown. Something inside of them cracks, and that something was realizing this could not end with him holding her in his arms. Even if the bold idea made him blush, he was always sure Mimi would fit in his embrace perfectly. As much as the idea filled him with warmth and softness, but he didn’t allow his mind to pass that tought very often. It hurt him to know all the walls he has carefully and slowly built around him would stumble and fall for her.

Hell, he would grab the hammer himself and smashed them to pieces.

If smashing his walls would make him bleed out beneath the broken pieces, or breaking him free from the sleepless nights and small aches, Koushiro was willing to give himself in. On one of the countless sleepless nights, he slowly got up from his bed, feeling the anxiety rising up from his stomach as he made his way to his computer. The screen light has blinded him, sending an silent warning if the boy is certain he wants to continue with his actions. He wasn’t, but something cracked, and his fingers were moving across the keyboard more swiftly and preciselly than ever before.

It was a secret well hidden, and perhaps if it made it’s way to the surface, it would be a shocking surprise for all the girls who spent their time whispering to each other in the corner of the hallways, sharing their newest assumptions and affronts about Mimi, the most popular being about dullness, priggishness, and obsession with her beauty. The fact that Mimi hated her long, brown hair wouldn’t quite fit in their carefully constructed describtion of her persona. It was not the color, the lenght of the quality she disliked, but the way it was treated and viewed by other people, and particullaly her mother, this gorgeous, elegant figures in the eyes of the oblvious by-standers.

Mimi would never deny she loved her mother, but she wished, that just for a mere moment, her mom would actually be her mom, and not a mentor available for two hours every day, ready to toss suggestions every time she exhaled. Almost every of the countless sleepless nights, Mimi would feel guilty and privileged for not liking the way her mother cared about her apperance, for seeing her as too perfect and imperfect at the same. But it hurt her and left her screaming and desperate for a chance to finally be her, to make something on her body hers. Her perfect, not perfect according to her mother. Lately, she missed being herself and breathing freely.

She missed the light red-haired boy that made her feel this ways, the softness in his eyes and voice telling her he spends time with her, because he likes her. One of the cons of not being to sleep at night was replaying that moment in her head, and feeling her heart sinking from the bliss to the low point, because of course he hasn’t meant it that way. Mimi was always the most frustrated at herself at this part, because the time overthinking could be spent sleeping. And maybe, if her dreams were generous enough, they would make her dream about him, sitting together in his office, world forgotten, talking, laughing and bickering.

The one and only pro of not being to able to sleep at night was being able to reach for her phone in annoyance, light up in the darkness of her room, informing her about a new income email.

The sun crawled throught the curtains early that morning, illuminating the soft, pastel pink colored hair between her fingers. The sight was enough to make Mimi cry.

In a different part of the world, a vibrat red color of Koushiro’s hair made his mother hug him, knowing her son’s heart is and will be safe and sound.

Digimon Adventure: Review

Episode 23 The Messenger of Darkness Devimon

The two battles continue – one in the Digital World and one in the Network.  Devimon is powered up from the Human World’s data, so Koushiro and the others work to cut him off… but not before he evolves to NeoDevimon.

Can you imagine if we got a break in the show now rather than after episode 3?  I for one would support it just to get some time to consolidate the plot.  I know it was unlikely we were going to get any breathing time between this episode and the last, but it looks like the next episode is also going to be a similar pace and it’s, dare I say it, boring.  

Right, enough negativity. There were some good bits in this episode.  I loved almost everything about the Network battle, not least because the digimon all got a chance to fight.  I do find it interesting Sora and Mimi were the ones to ask their digimon to go on the attack first.  It’s a combination we didn’t get to see a huge amount of in the original series (except when the guys were out of the picture).

Look at how cute these four are crowded around Koushiro’s laptop!

There’s a good amount of tension as they try to defeat Calamaramon to not only save the Singapore port, but also to stop Devimon receiving his power up through the Network.  Watching their determination and the evolution to Perfect was one of my favourite scenes, although once again the question must be asked why they didn’t power up their partners earlier.  I think it’s something I’ll have to accept, but it does take you out for a moment.

Meanwhile, the fight with Devimon is somewhat predictable.  Although he seems perfectly capable of defeating MetalGreymon and WereGarurumon in his Adult form, seeing Poyomon evolve into Tokomon triggers something in him and in his rage he evolves into NeoDevimon.  Not only is his connection to Tokomon reiterated, but to me it comes across that he’s been corrupted by darkness rather than embracing it the way he did in the original Adventure.  It’s an interesting departure seeing DarkKnightmon essentially controlling things in the background and sets up the next big bad, whoever they turn out to be (somehow I don’t think Etemon has the right vibes for this show, so might skip to Vamdemon if we don’t get someone completely new).

Again, the question of the Chosen’s power-ups comes up, this time due to WereGarurumon effortlessly switching to Sagittarius Mode.  Don’t get me wrong, I love his design and I approve of him powering up as soon as possible, but why didn’t MetalGreymon do the same? Even without that though, MetalGreymon and WereGarurumon defeat NeoDevimon.

I’m sorry, but I really can’t resist these two.

However (of course), DarkKnightmon uses the remaining power of the dark crystal to force NeoDevimon to evolve further.  Let’s hope the others can join them from the Network, because I can’t imagine they’re going to manage to defeat an Ultimate with just two Perfects… unless we’re about to get Omegamon again?  I feel like that shouldn’t be possible now that Angemon isn’t around, but that may just be my wishful thinking.

Final Thoughts

I am trying not to dwell too much on what I dislike about this show, but I really want some sort of down time for the kids and digimon.  Keeping the tension high for this many episodes just isn’t exciting. It’s the ups and downs that help make a story, but if anything the pace of this plot keeps accelerating.  I’m not sure what the writers are so desperate to get to, but at this rate I’m not going to care.

Favorite character: mimi! Second favorite character: it’s a tie between koushiro and jyou, i can’t pick :// Least favorite character: ok i’m... gonna cheat a little bit with this one, bc i was only gonna consider adv01 for the list, BUT tri is technically in the same timeline as the original series, so i’m gonna say meiko. sorry but what a waste of a main character wow. if you’re gonna do a reboot of a beloved series maybe don’t add a poorly-written self-insert oc :))) The character I’m most like: mmmaybe hikari? i don’t think i’m particularly like any of them tbh, but hikari is probably the closest call. Favorite pairing: koushiro/mimi!!!! Least favorite pairing: if i can include adv02 i’ll say miyako/ken. if it’s just the 01 kids, i think... yamato/sora? i’m not a big fan of her with taichi either, but if i have to pick the one i dislike the most out of these, it’s the former. Favorite moment: for the sake of me not writing an essay, i’ll say the final goodbye scene. i have many other contenders, like wizardmon’s sacrifice and when the kids return to the digital world, but let’s go with the finale. Rating out of 10: 10/10 BAAAAYBEEEY. it’s no secret i’m a digimon stan. i’ve loved this show since i was 6 and not much has changed since then. after fmab, it’s probably my favorite anime series ever. the plot is great, the characters are wonderfully written and well-developed AND THE MUSIC !!! i could talk about the music alone for hours.

Day 8 - Favorite 02 Chosen Child (Younger 6)

MAN YOU CAN’T MAKE ME PICK ONE AND PRETEND I DO NOT CARE OF THE REST RIGHT??

Actually you can, but I feel it’s unfair when I love all of them. These six are my role models, were there to entertain me when I felt sad or upset. They had told me so many many lessons and I treasure the 02 team more than any other digi-cast ever.

It’s like... “friendship with 2D” yeah. It’s like that. Also I had a crush on Miyako without even knowing what crush was! And I admit I’m still having silly crushes on this lady. But should I pick her and claim she’s my favorite??

Well, no. Because I feel it would’ve been unfair with her boys. Also unfair with Hikari & Takeru (who I also like, and even more thanks to tri.)

So... I feel myself unable to pick one. This means this post will be long. Take a seat and let me talk a bit of all of them. YES, I CHOOSE ALL OF THOSE KIDS. There’s no rule saying I can’t pick them all, and if existed one I’d have ditched it so quickly than Lighdramon running at 80km per hour.

Starting with...

... My favorite Adv kid from childhood. Why do I love Hikari so much? Because she’s nice and strong -- She’s brave just like any of these kids in this group (and on her bro’s group) are. More than that, she’s literally powerful and can summon the end of the world if in wrong hands. Hikari’s is either a sweet angel or a walking destruction of the world trigger.

I’m very very fond of her, more of her design in tri. than the other ones -- But I admit some of her clothes from 02 & 02 movie′s Diablomon Strikes Back plus 02 material like “Original Stories” CD Drama has nice colors and patterns that fits Hikari’s aesthetic. I consider her one of the most well dressed in tri. material (movie & promo) and I take no criticism.

I feel like she never had decent treatment, she’s always used as a walking plot device, or a romantic interest or even a damsel in distress. While I do not like very much of her role in 02, I do like Vamdemon Arc from OG because of her. A child who simply cannot stand seeing the others hurt because of her!? She surrendered to stop every fight happening, she preferred to sacrifice her own life for those people. That’s the most coolest Hikari scene in the first series to me.

More, 02 might not be a very good Hikari material (i dislike her haircut, sorry) but also had episode 13 & 31 about her. While I still do not like the fact both has someone to save her, I appreciate the scenes where Hikari is being pretty badass. Like, when she starts healing the “digimon” from the Dark Ocean world with her own power. Episode 31 is a Hikari-Miyako episode and I appreciate how they dropped Hikari’s insecurities, also how Hikari feels a bit of jealous about Miyako’s behavior -- That she wanted to scream and say what’s on her mind just like Miyako does.

But, my favorite material while I completely feel they did not do enough justice for this little miss sunshine... It’s tri. Quoting one of my friends: “When Hikari opens her mouth she slays” and honestly, most of my favorite scenes from all six movies are Hikari-related. Her giving Joe some good sense? Fave. Her seeing a good point on the reboot instead of feeling sad? fave. Her having some insightful and wise quote about how we don’t know anything until happens to us? FAVE. Her fighting and ditching Homeostasis from her own body? INSTA-FAVE. My problem with tri. is how she’s easily overshadowed by most of the characters, ESPECIALLY ON HER OWN MOVIE. I love-hate “Coexistence” because of that. It was supposed to be Hikari’s movie, and all we got was more Meiko than Hikari. Not even a balanced amount, like was Mimi-Joe and Koushiro-Takeru.

Design-wise, I like Kizuna design for her but not that transparent layer. I’d have preferred the yellow shirt she had on the beta (?) design.

Plus, I love MAO so much since Gokaiger and I feel very thankful for them casting her as my fave girl haha.

NEXT, we have...

... The Hat Disaster. In my childhood watching 02 I really liked Takeru. I think I was more of a Takeru fan than a Daisuke fan (however, I never hated Daisuke lmao) so it’s weird how now I’m more of a Daisuke person than a Takeru person (okay I know the reason, but still...)

I feel like the OG anime made him be useless like for two arcs til the Vamdemon one. While I consider Angemon’s sacrifice one of the most iconic scenes of the Adv-verse, I think they shouldn’t have made Takeru spend too much time to get Patamon back and also to evolve again.

In 02, I liked him as a kid but as a teen I admit to dislike him in 02 due to the “Dark Takeru” thing. I felt that was totally badly done, that this double-faced Takeru was their attempt to make him be Daisuke’s rival (despite Takeru never actually feeling the rivalry oops) and make him more of a Yamato 2.0; but a few recent rewatches made me see those in another way. Actually, the duality of the Takeru is somehow more interesting considering 02′s plot but had some wasted opportunities there.

But I admit that tri. is my favorite portrayal for him: The sass. The troll nature. His movie was delightful to me, enough to be my most favorite of all six. Because the drama and the development there for him was on point. Also Let’s admit that Takeru became a living meme with all those hats lol.

Design-wise... I like 02 material better. The OG Takeru was pretty much a leprechaun imo lol, and tri. had some strange color combo (except for promo art. Promo art had some nice hats and outfits) so I’m very fond of Takeru’s fashion from 02.

NOW, THE NEXT ONE IS...

The smolest and youngest of them, Iori. As expected, I wasn’t very much fan nor hated Iori when I was a child. Actually, I think I wasn’t able to understand him that much. Now I kinda of, thanks to my friends who love him so much, and by those rewatches where I started to see him with another point of view.

He’s the youngest yet the most mature and serious of the six, he is on the same mental age of the others and can debate about things with. His arcs in 02 were important, also had shown that he’s still a kid and had a behavior of a kid despite being too much responsible. While 02 goes, Iori become less serious as the time Daisuke gets more maturity and I think this is one of the best details of him.

Now, design-wise... Iori’s haircut is terrible for me because you need to be very careful or you will end up making his head bigger than his body lol. I do not mind the bowl cut -- actually I find it cute on Takeda’s hands -- but I’m quite of glad Kizuna gave him a small retouch, just like tri. gave a retouch on Hikari’s 02 haircut. Still a bowl cut? Yeah, but at least I know where the hair begins lol.

02 design for him fits his personality -- He’s serious, so color palette must tell you that. He wears some neutral colors on all outfits. I simply adore his summer & winter design. Another 02 movies and material has some good color palette and design, so seeing Iori in an uniform makes me happy (I believe it’s the same uniform for Joe in tri. ?? )

OK, NEXT ONE IS...

... This little sheet. Oh Ken, I love-hate you so much you can’t even!! First of all: As I child I had probably missed a few episodes where the reveal happens or when he became part of the group... So when I found out 02 airing on a random day... I didn’t know that kid was also the Digimon Kaiser (Imperador Digimon, in my language) so yes I felt confused. Thankfully, I realized it was indeed him so...

But, before becoming this craze Daisuke fan... I was a Ken fan. Yes, on my teen years, rewatching 02 BR dub. I just found myself in love with this kid, and hating the Kaiser oops. My change of heart came when watching the JP version, and my contact with Kaiser fans. I still prefer the good Kenchan instead, but I admit Park Romi made me appreciate and fangirl over the emperor of darkness.

Ken’s arcs were the most well written and executed in my opinion. I think he’s the most well developed character, with Iori as second. His whole Kaiser phase’s tragic story to his redemption and finding himself surrounded by new friends is one of my favorite developments for a character in the entire digi-anime franchise. I think no other digi-anime or material was able to replicate Ichijouji Ken’s success and this is why there’s so many Ken fans in this world.

Design-wise... I only like 02 material design and the winter outfit. Until now. Kizuna’s design for him was a shock when it comes to the haircut (but it makes sense, according to two friends who explained me what could be the reason behind this drastic change) but outfit-wise?? Fits Ken. The clip’s blazer is a nice touch with the black shirt. Also the promo art with the boys going on a ramen restaurant?? Look at those harmonic colors please!!

It’s still a shock, yes, but I’m glad he’s finally getting new outfits and being very attractive HAHAHAHAHAHA wow.

NEXT, THE ONE YOU’LL BE WAITING FOR...

HIM. You expected me to leave him for the last huh? Guess again, I gonna do all my boys til I reach the Miyako Hours Love.

So let’s begin this section saying that I love this boy so much now that I don’t even understand. He’s my sunshine, he’s my insp and the one that somehow fits my personality besides Miyako, Sora and Hikari. Also Daisuke’s optimism and “never giving up” attitude was what helped me thousand times in my teen days. He has his own struggles, as seen in the 02 material, but he quietly faces them to not let the others be affected by it.

He’s a loyal knight to his friends, and gives you a second chance if you prove to have a good heart. He’s the purest and the most caring character I’ve seen in 02. On 02 material we see him showing kindness to the others -- Ken, Wallace, Natchan -- enough to make me think he’s the “mom friend” of the group instead of one of the girls lol.

Daisuke’s lines and wisdom had a strong impact on me, the scene he confronts Ken and tell the other to not be reckless, saying Ken to live is one of the scenes that caused a huge impact on my teen days. I felt like that scene was him talking not only to Ken, but also to the watcher. I do not think he’s (totally) dumb, actually I think he’s pretty smart... But only when he wants to. He’s creative as well, having so many plans and a big of imagination just like a real-life kid. He makes you laugh and face your fears. Honestly, Daisuke can teach everyone how to deal with a bunch of things.

Now, for design... He’s my most favorite when it comes to design -- Stripes and colors, Daisuke’s aesthetic seems to be bizarre in the Digital World, but in the human world design is neutral yet full of blue shades. I love all outfits he had until now and yes I am enjoying so far all the Kizuna design and promo art for him.

The change from goggles to those tycoon business glasses is my most favorite feature of his design. It’s ridiculously good. And I’m glad it’s not for his job, it’s for his fashion, his aesthetic. Daisuke is still the same if you look at those outfits lol.

I love Kiuchi so much as Daisuke, and I want to love Katayama’s Daisuke so much -- I’m already happy with the staff’s choice, this man has the Daisuke spirit imo haha.

AND, THE ONE I TRULY LOVE SINCE CHILDHOOD:

THE QUEEN, OR SHOULD I SAY THE KAISERIN/EMPRESS? Ah Miyako, I’ve been missing you so much that that clip healed me.

Miyako is the kind of character I’ve been waiting for as a child: Someone smart like Koushiro and with glasses like Joe. She’s also lovely and brave, like Sora and Mimi respectively. Her arcs hit me so hard because they’re so good you can’t change my mind. She’s beautiful despite her not wearing cool outfits like Mimi.

My passion with Inoue Miyako begins with the BR dub voice actress -- Adriana Torres. This lady nailed on the portrayal and dubbing that I have problem to pick a favorite version, so I say I love BR and JP versions so much and that’s all. Miyako is the character full of energy, clumsy and so straightforward in my mind that I love her evolution -- despite her not having that much imo, she deserved more!! -- and I love even more that she’s the cheer AND technician of the gang.

Her path to evolution, to be a strong woman and kick some evil is the best part of 02. The scene she slaps Hikari and put some good sense on her friend? Iconic. The scene she mounts on Horusmon and makes Mimi realize how cool she is? Beautiful. The entire rant of how much she cares more about appearance? Classic. Her facing a digimon with her bare hands and using a skateboard to beat the sheet out of LadyDevimon because the digi was being mean!? BADASS!!

While I do not like Miyako’s default and DW outfits, I do love her summer, winter and movie outfits. I also like “Original Stories” cover art where she’s very very much BEAUTIFUL!! But I know, she is craze at heart and wild colors and design fits her character.

BUT KIZUNA IS TOTALLY ROCKING ON THE MIYAKO IS NOW A HOT GAL AND SO EVERY BOY IN HER GROUP HAS A CRUSH ON HER. Plus Mimi and Hikari. She’s a girl who likes both boys and girls. She’s an icon. And I love to have her beauty shown. Gimme more of beautiful Miyako, our “ugly duckling who becomes very much a beautiful and strong swan”

Survey Results

Hey babes!  I’m gonna show the results of my survey and announce my Nanowrimo 2019 project beneath the cut!  WooOOOoooOOO!

First, thank you all so much for your responses, I appreciate it so much!  Also, thanks for you patience while I reblogged my own dang survey XD

Seeking Resonance is the winner!  I know from past surveys that people generally want me to finish my old fics before I start new ones (shocking, I know XD).  This is a bit rough for me, because I’m itching to write something more lighthearted...  But I also truly do want to finish what I started.  

So, once After August is complete (only 1 chapter remains), I will do my best to complete SR, at least until November.  Hopefully I can get a few updates in.

And speaking of November...

HOLY COW.  SO MANY VOTES FOR EIMI IN TRI.

I didn’t even come up with this idea!  While Tri was running, I received PMs from people asking...  Basically, what would Eimi have done here?  Would Eimi worry about Iori?  Would she feel betrayed when she saw the Kaiser?  What would happen to Galemon after the Reboot and during the infection?  I think I sort of... jokingly mentioned writing a fic to address those questions, and people... seemed enthusiastic!

I’ll admit that I’m... well, really surprised!  For one, I mean, uh...  Generally, OCs are unpopular, and I always see myself as sort of...  Being kind of embarrassing.  Sort of being like...  “Er, ehehehe, here’s an OC fic, ahahha, I know fandoms hate them but, ahhhh well, HERE YOU GO!”

So, I just... thank you all for loving Eimi and Galemon *weep*

Secondly, I was under the impression that Tri is pretty divisive, with people either loving or hating it.  But I also think that...  People who disliked Tri might want a fandom author to...  Well, to address some of the things they didn’t like about the canon content (ie, the “I fix for you” fanfic genre).  I don’t want to imply that Tri was broken and needs fixing, but there are points that are unpopular for a lot of the fanbase.  So maybe that’s why you guys are interested?  When I wrote this drabble set in Kokuhaku, I received a few messages to that effect.

So, well, I’mma do it for Nanowrimo!  There are almost 9 weeks until November 1st.  My plan is to watch 1 Tri movie per week and plan the chapter set in that movie that week.  This will leave me almost 3 weeks to go over the plan, make sure it’s cohesive, cut things, add things, etc.

Eimi’s “out of darkness” ultimate evolution arc will happen alongside Sora’s in Sōshitsu.  I’m thinking that the Kokuhaku and Sōshitsu chapters will have 2 updates (since those movies contain Koushiro’s and Eimi’s arcs), and the other chapters will have only 1.  The story will be between 40-50K words, I hope.  Readers of Growing Up with You will recognize my...  The thing where I write mostly through the lens of Koushiro and Eimi, with occasional input from the others.  

I plan to touch on and expand the following ideas:

Eimi searching for the 02 kids while the others believe Himekawa.

Eimi questioning Himekawa, her organization, and Meiko/Meicoomon, creating tension between her and the others.

Expansion on the digimon/humans politics issues.

Expanding of Meiko’s arc and motives, with heavy reduction of ‘comforting Meiko’ scenes (except for Mimi bonding with Meiko and Sora comforting her; I consider reduction of Sora a crime).

What happens to an infected Galemon?  How does Eimi react?  How does this further isolate her from Takeru and Meiko, who made different choices?

In general, Eimi is going to take issue with Meiko’s choices more than the others.  This, combined with her distrust of the organization and distress over the 02 kids and Ken/Kaiser, is going to make her an outsider and cause issues.

Lots of exploration and answers regarding the Glen, Justice, and anomaly issue.

I’m removing the “pervert Koushiro” stuff and changing the angle on “fashion disaster Koushiro” and “socially inept Koushiro.”  Basically, Tri Koushiro is going to feel a lot more like an older GUWY Koushiro.

Even more tension for Koushiro in Kokuhaku (sorry dude) as we add politics and distress over Eimi’s withdrawal to what he was already dealing with (sorry dude).

I was confused by Mimi and Koushiro fighting and never... resolving it (Mimi was briefly shown delivering tea for him as a peace offering, but after that, they didn’t react much in a meaningful way).  I want to explore Mimi and Koushiro’s argument and friendship.

Those are the things I know for now!  Thank you again to everyone who voted!  Apologies to those of you who weren’t in the majority, but I do hope I can get to everything someday.

Thoughts on the Taichi, Sora, and Koushiro OT3? What do you like, dislike? What do you think could be done to make it better?

Sorry for the delay, Anon! Youasked about one of my favorite things during a busy time, and I wanted to devotemy full attention to it!

Some general thoughts on the Taichi-Sora-Koushiro trio

I love the Taichi-Sora-Koushirodynamic so much. It’s the trioclosest to my heart, and this is coming from someone who adores the Taichi-Sora-Yamato trio.

In my extremely biased opinion, Ilike to imagine that Taichi, Yamato, Sora and Koushiro were the first fourcharacters created for Adventure. Thestaff decided that they needed 1) a protagonist, 2) a rival, 3) a heroine, and4) a brain. (They were never going to make the heroine 1, 2, or 4.) After that,I like to imagine that the other four characters were created in response tothem. The rival got a younger brother to show his motherly personality andbetter parallel the motherly heroine; the introvert heroine got a complementaryextrovert girl; the brain got a complementary nerd boy who valued disciplinemore than curiosity; and the protagonist got to develop his relationship with hisyounger sister to better parallel the rival and his brother.

I mention these ideas just to showhow strongly I feel that the Taichi-Sora-Yamato trio and theTaichi-Sora-Koushiro trio are both centralto the plot of Adventure, andeverything else sort of revolves around them. The way the staff decided to makethese central characters work is that Taichi, Sora, and Koushiro are the onlythree characters who start out as friends. And Yamato is the outsider who workshis way into Taichi and Sora’s hearts. So even though Yamato is the important foilcharacter destined to receive the most developed relationship with theprotagonist, Adventure still workswell as an ensemble cast because Sora and Koushiro’s relationships with theprotagonist are unique and special. They are his heart and his head.

What I like

Firstly, I like Taichi, Sora, andKoushiro because they are such unexpected friends, right from the beginning. Ithink that the unexpected nature of this trio makes them more complexcharacters; it makes Taichi softer, and it makes Sora and Koushiro tougher. Evenwithout knowing the official backstory that these three were in the soccer clubtogether, I realized from their interactions in episode 1 that they alreadyknew and trusted each other. And honestly, that’s all I need! I love how the writerswere able to show without telling. However, I love knowing the backstory,because it’s easy to imagine that Sora and Koushiro were two oddballs on the boys’soccer team. And yet Taichi still befriended them! And constantly seeks theiradvice! That speaks well of Taichi’s character, that he’s the type to want tomake everyone feel included. That makes it easy to understand why these twolonely redheads like him so much!

Additionally, I appreciate how thistrio allows Taichi to stand on his own without his foil, Yamato, even as Yamatogradually becomes closer friends to Taichi and Sora. Because as important asYamato is, Sora and Koushiro will always be Taichi’s left and right hands. Tome, showing the Taichi-Sora-Koushiro trio—without Yamato—is important, becausewe see that Taichi and Yamato don’t just revolve around each other. They’remore interesting than that. (This is also why I love the Yamato-Sora-Jou trioso much; Yamato has interesting relationships without Taichi, too.) It’s smartwriting that helps give Adventure such agreat ensemble cast.

Naturally, I also love the threerelationships in the OT3 individually! Taichi & Sora and Taichi &Koushiro are the two best developed friendships behind Taichi & Yamato. Theyare dynamic friendships that grow deeper as the show progresses, all the way tothe Dark Masters arc. Sora & Koushiro’s friendship is also sweet, if moresubtle.

Finally, what I love most aboutthis trio is how incredibly loyal they are to each other. It’s beautiful towatch. Taichi was willing to risk his life to save Sora from Nanomon. He alsoput himself in danger to protect Koushiro from Piemon, treating Koushiro likeHikari, his family. Meanwhile, Sora and Koushiro were willing to travel to theends of the earth to search for Taichi after he disappeared, refusing to giveup on him. And Sora and Koushiro were the only two older children who stayed byTaichi’s side during the Dark Master’s arc. Through it all, Taichi, Sora, andKoushiro remain flawed children who struggle with expressing their feelings,but their love for each other clearly shines.

What I dislike

What I dislike most about this triois the same as what I dislike most about the Adventure series in general, which is that the girls always get theshort stick. In this case, Sora is not treated equally to Taichi and Koushiro.That doesn’t mean that the writing for her is bad—it’s actually quite good inseason 1! It’s easy for me to forgive issues in season 1. But that makes Sora’sdiminished role in season 2 and the movies all the more disappointing. Season 2and the movies give greater importance to the Taichi-Koushiro-Yamato trio—a triothat I actually dislike because of how blatantly exclusionary it is.

The other thing that I dislikeabout the writing for this trio is that the Tri staff does not care about it asmuch as I do. I remember that Taichi, Sora, and Koushiro do interact in Tri,but it’s difficult for me to remember scenes when they help each other grow aspeople. Because of this, I feel like Taichi and Yamato revolve too much aroundeach other in Tri. At least, it’s too much for me.

Some hypothetical fixes

I wish that Sora had a moreprominent, interesting role in 02 andthe movies, to put her on more equal standing with Taichi and Koushiro. I thinkthat one cool solution would be to bring Sora with the boys on the camping tripin 02, even though this means thatthey probably would have had to write different romance jokes than the old ‘Junis stalking Yamato’ shtick.

In Tri, I wish that Sora and Koushiro were shown to console Taichiduring his long, sad arc where he is afraid of hurting people, because it feelsto me like Yamato is Taichi’s only friend who has taken his Tri issues seriously. I also wish thatTaichi had gotten a scene where he comforted Koushiro in Confession, and I wish that he and Sora had a moment ofunderstanding in Loss that wasseparate from her relationship to Yamato. (I wish the same thing for Sora’srelationship with Yamato in Tri.)Basically, I wish that Taichi, Sora, and Koushiro had been more importantfigures in each other’s character development in Tri. Someone else might be able to fix that more creatively.

But you know, theTaichi-Sora-Koushiro trio isn’t perfect in my favorite season Adventure either. If I could make onechange, it’s that I wish we had more insight into Sora and Koushiro’s feelingswhen they left the group in the Picodevimon arc. We got a lot of insight intoYamato’s feelings when he left the group in the Dark Masters’ arc, so it doesn’tfeel fair. (Especially for Sora, who is supposed to parallel her canon loveinterest when she is the first person to leave the group.) While Yamato leftthe group because he needed space from Taichi, Sora and Koushiro left to try tofind him, and because they refused to believe he was dead. I think that wouldbe fascinating to explore!

Conclusion

The Taichi, Sora, and Koushiro OT3is the best. It makes me happy thatyou thought to ask me about them! Thank you.

What's your ranking between the 8 digidestined of Digimon Adventure?

This is so unfair, i feel like i´m choosing betwen my childrens but if i have to do it fine, but just to clear i really really like all of them, even my least favorite digimon adventure caracther is one of my all time favorite caracther, i would fight for any to them: 

1.Yamato 

Pretty simple, Yamato had been my favorite since day 1, he is so fun to watch, everything is 10 times better if yamato is involve, that´s a fact, he is always so over the top extra, the type of caracther that go to the extreme so easily, i feel like every season they try to replicate Yamato but never success, he is strong but also really sensitive, and i never feel him force, everything with him feel organic, natural, a reallistic type of caracther that is also so unrealistic, his episodes are the best ones and i also complete adore gabumon. 

2. Joe 

Fun story, when i was a kid and watch digimon the first time me and my friends play to “What caracther you are” surprise surprise, i wasn´t the lider or the cool renegate  second in comand, or the pretty girl or the magic mistic girl or voice of reason, i was “the others” you know, when Yamato yells at tai “Think about the others” and point to Joe, mimmi, izzy and Takeru, and i tought that really stick with me, if i must point out to the caracther i feel is most like me i would point to Joe Kido. 

3.Mimmi 

If Joe is the caracther i´m must like, mimmi is the caracther i wish i could be, she is so loudly and direct, she speak and yells and demand, i adore what they do with her in tri, she has the perfect caracther develonment, she could be a damsel in drisstres and instead she is a queen, i love mimmi so much. 

4.Izzy 

Izzy make me cry, back them to the first time i watch the show when his parents told him about the adoption, i cried so much, it was such a beatiful thing, a powerful build up; usually the geek super smart type of caracther in anime or media on general are so cold and not in touch with his feelings, and Koushiro could be like that, but no… he has a heart, he feel and cry and love, and is also really smart, lets be clear, all of them would be death without Izzy. 

5.  A tie betwen Takeru and Hikari 

I´m sorry, i can´t, for me they come together, t.k. and Kari are the perfect duo, not romantically speaking but in a really platonic way, i like their frienship and the fact that they grow up together, they pass to a lot since a really young age, contrary to alot of people i don´t think Hikari is so much a mary sue, she is more like a plot device but still really interesting, she seems fragil and kind but is really powerful, she is a truly magic girl; and Takeru, i have a sof spot for him, i´m sorry, for me he will always would be Yamato little brother, and his scene with the Kaizer in 02 is the best one, you know what scene i´m talking about. 

6. Taichi 

I´m not saying that i didn´t like him ok? calm down 

I learn to like him, specialy in tri, i think that Taichi bring what is best about people, he really put the team together, he is this force that push all the other pieces, and i apreciate that, also i ship Taiyama and adore his dinamic with Yamato, i guess that´s my problem, i love taichi dinamic with almost everyone, i like him and yamato, he an Izzy, he and Kari, He and sora, he and TK; but i never like Taichi by himself until Digimon Tri. 

7. Sora 

O my dear Sora, i only dislike one thing about sora: her time; we don´t get enought sora, for some reason she is ignore, My sister and I always joke about how if digimon adventure would be made today Sora would totally have a megalevel evolution, i don´t feel like his caracther arc is strong enougth, why the writters forget so much about sora? specialy in Digimon 02, i feel like they trought her under the bus since Jolei found out Mimmi´s digispirit, more sora please, i want to love her more.

Some quick thoughts on the new Digimon Tri PV for the fifth movie, “Kyousei/Symbiosis”:

I can’t get over how absolutely beautiful Mimi looks here. Taichi looks quite handsome as well.

Also... Yamichi (+ Hikari).

And later on in the trailer we get another Yamichi (+ Jyou) shot! ;)

Hikari’s so adorable. PLEASE GIVE HER THE SPOTLIGHT SHE DESERVES!

Look at how fierce and determined Mimi looks! I love it.

Why the b00bs? I still don’t understand why?

I love seeing Taichi so genuinely happy! :D

Another nice shot. I love how protective Takeru has been of Hikari throughout the films. Their friendship is hashtag goals.

I also like the Jyoura. I will forever have a soft spot for that ship.

Lastly, since the tri writers wanted to include canon Koumi, they’re finally giving us the dynamic we deserve? I really, truly disliked the way they depicted Koushiro as a creep towards Mimi in all the promotional pictures, but this is what we want. Them helping each other, even understanding each other, since Koushiro isn’t as in touch with his emotions like Mimi is, and we see him consoling her (by grabbing her shoulders no less!) when she’s clearly upset and crying.

While I’m a bit (a lot) peeved that Hikari is barely in this PV, even though this is supposed to be her movie, I do feel sad for Meiko... And this shot of her biting her lip to try to contain her tears is stunning.

I don’t hate her, but I wish the writers would have written her story better, I could have actually really liked her. Her digimon on the other hand, sorry but no, I dislike that whiny cat. (But this is a complete rant on its own and I don’t have time to get into that now.)

Besides Meiko hugging Agumon, there is still nothing that could indicate a possible Taichi/Meiko relationship tbh. So far she has had more interaction with Mimi, Sora, Takeru and even Yamato (again in this PV). So I personally hope that Taichi/Meiko isn’t endgame, because it would be so out of the blue. And I personally feel Meiko deserves better than to suddenly be reduced to Taichi’s love interest.

It does look like we’ll finally get some answers on Meicoomon this time, though. I believe this dark silhouette is Meiko’s father and iirc a previous interview alluded to him knowing more about Meicoomon’s origins.

Taishiro Fic Notes: REPEAT?_

Ch. 4, pt. 1 under the cut! (skipping pts./chapters 2+3 for now, will get back to them later!) (beginning fic notes: here) (original fic outline: here)

- This chapter was super embarrassing omg Taichi WHY ARE YOU EMBARRASSING - Taichi voice “IT’S NOT MY FAULT” - ok but it actually isn’t maybe you’re ok Taichi [specific dialogue notes] - ‘wait you do THAT with him and you're just gonna LEAVE, that's even worse maybe?!’ tbh I agree with rambly Taichi here like (ok but jk jk but [Taichi avoided the BAD END?? ?]) (lbr if he had left and didn’t get to join on the dig eventually, well.....) (thinking about it I didn’t plan it this exact way but maybe subconsciously kind of had them stay together during the whole time because if they did separate who knows what could have happened to them) (basically them being around each other also can maybe help stop the loop?) - ‘but his skin is giving off a surprising amount of shine’ yeah Koushiro’s inner glow is REALLY going off here (lbr Koushiro is. pleased. yeah) (.... I didn’t plan this exactly this way either but legit now that I think about it this could parallel things too .....) - ‘ "shin-ji-te-ru" ("shinjiteru", "believe")’ this bit was explained in the notes for this part but also thinking about it (YEAH) (... ok this bit was planned but unplanned is) (maybe Koushiro subconsciously was getting some hope back from all of this yeah .....) (I was kinda thinking the new meeting with Taichi in this timeline kind of helps him subconsciously start believing in things [himself] again??) - ‘ I believe in you ‘ (that too) (re: Taichi) (lbr though he never stops believing in Taichi though) - ‘  He seems to not quite know what to do with himself still, when he looks up suddenly, as if sensing, and his black eyes stare right at Taichi. ’ ok this bit was planned a bit. Basically Koushiro was going about in a sort of mental daze earlier (because of the previous nights’ events too but also because of his dreams, the name in the back of his mind.... etc. etc.) but for once it was a more... pleasant one? anyhow, their subconscious both probably ping whenever the other’s around (naturally too) but probably extra so for Koushiro, yup. it doesn’t help that Koushiro’s hyper aware in canon too at many points like that comes with the Knowledge thing and having a sharp mind and noticing the little details yup - ‘ "...Your tie...?" ('I FORGOT MY TIE--') ‘ ok this part was NOT super intended but... “Tai” puns.... (a-ahahaha) (look, dubverse probably does exist in background timelines somewhere too, ok) (even though I don’t typically write in it anymore) (and I disliked a lot of the script changes/etc. even re: some important Taishiros) (..... negl the overly 90s vibe of the dub and their overall personalities/voice actors there still give me feelings too though yeah ;;) (so take this as a sort of mini tribute aha) (... oh also. still. maybe. “Ta-i-”--) - ‘ Koushiro interrupts him this time. "...! Your name -- I, um, didn't..." He suddenly seems like he's about to think hard, like a thought came to mind all of a sudden, and he wants to think about it but he's trying to keep his gaze focused on Taichi too, his mouth pursed but a bit uneven as he tries to keep ...steady. ‘ Again, relating to him trying to subconsciously remember Taichi’s name from the last part. (Koushiro’s trying to subconsciously keep him from leaving too, maybe) (they weren’t as in danger here this time since Taichi would have stayed in most instances but yeah, if either of them leaves...) (and um. no comment on ‘steady’) - "...I-It's Taichi. Yagami Taichi." There's a fraction of a section of silence. Koushiro keeps staring. (SUBCONSCIOUSLY REMEMBERING ALERT SUBCONSCIOUSLY REMEMBERING ALERT) (Koushiro’s probably like “.........” mentally right there) (even if it takes a fraction of a second for him to actually react yup) - ‘ "...Taichi-san, then." ‘ dun dun dunnnnn (SUBCONSCIOUSLY REMEMBERS THE “-SAN”) (AND THAT IT’S “TAICHI-SAN”) - "Normally, I'd call you Yagami-san." Taichi freezes. Koushiro's mouth quirks -- just slightly. "...But I think we've become too acquainted for that." (THAT TOO) (Koushiro in this verse is overall quite professional, so he WOULD have used Taichi’s last name with -san, not his first name, which indicates just a bit more closeness normally - while still being formal enough) (not in a professional/work setting, though, maybe) (basically Koushiro’s mind pinging him with ‘it’s Taichi-san’ ‘only Taichi-san’) (... Koushiro is stubborn like that ??) - ‘ "I... look, Koushiro? (He really deserves an honorific from Taichi's idiotic self, for once, but then again Taichi literally already used his name since...) ‘ (...since the night before, yes, Taichi) same thing here (Taichi subconsciously remembers to use ‘Koushiro’ sans honorific) (he does that normally with most people anyway, but Koushiro’s special yup) (because Koushiro doesn’t take offense to him using only ‘Koushiro’ when he normally might with someone he doesn’t know well or like, and that maybe makes Taichi feel kind of nice too) - ‘ I swear I don't want to hurt you or anything, I really really--" "You haven't hurt me." ‘ Taichi seriously did not want to hurt Koushiro ok Koushiro SERIOUSLY is not hurt by it ok (ok but this was also to emphasize yes it was consensual and yes they both very much enjoyed it) (... also Koushiro puts a freaking huge amount of trust in Taichi yup) -’  "Even during that," Koushiro adds, almost maddeningly. "...Taichi-san." Koushiro pauses, blinks a bit, suddenly. "...That wasn't where my train of thought was originally going, but it was..." Koushiro corrects himself. "What you... we... did..... it was nice. Taichi-san." ('Uh?!') "Very nice. ... "Very"? - Or? But-' 'Wait, what else can you really expect--?! Your sorry ass should be GRATEFUL he even called it 'nice' after that, he should be DROPKICKING YOU INTO THE STRATOSPHERE RIGHT ABOUT NOW--!!') ‘ (I’M SORRY TAICHI PICKING ON YOU IS FUN) (but yeah lbr Taichi you’re seriously lucky Koushiro is seriously too kind for his [and your] own good) - ‘ "N-No, I meant-" Taichi feels about ready to fall right where he's standing. (but it’s ok Taichi, Koushiro was nervous because of all of this ok) (.... also Koushiro was maybe a bit calculated here too like he often is when he’s trying to make a point, especially a serious point) ... ok thinking about it too I should probably mention this now, but. So in this universe, it’s a ‘nevermet’ AU, right? in the original fic outline, I mention how the timelines become so messed up even nevermet AUs form? well, I imagine in quite a number of them, they might subconsciously be trying to stay away from each other (or not interfere with each other) - this later kind of relates to Taichi speaking with the younger Koushiro in his dream towards the end. Each of the two eventually blames themselves, subconsciously, and they don’t want the other to keep dying because of them. They know it’s pointless to keep trying, but... (ok but they seriously need to stop blaming themselves they were kids they were kids they didn’t ask for this ok. ok.) Well, so, in some nevermet AUs, depending, they’re maybe subconsciously putting themselves far away from the other, as if maybe that’d also help keep the loop stable or something, somehow. Because if they never meet, maybe the other won’t die, right? The other of them will be safe, right? It’s better this way, right? (..... hahahaha) So in the above section - Koushiro’s basically subconsciously making a decision. To pursue this timeline with Taichi further, yes. Taichi is about to open his mouth to protest again (something like 'don't be fine with that!!') ‘ ... yeahhhhh so if it wasn’t obvious enough in fic basically, Koushiro is ... struggling ..... a lot in this timeline, yeah. (also indirectly paralleled by the original Koushiro/our Koushiro struggling) he’s probably been through Depression Hell and back multiple times even (... it’s probably chronic by this point, to be honest?) (I think canon Koushiro probably deals with it a bit easier, but still... it has a tendency to resurface down the road, and especially with this timeline) (not helped by the adoption reveal still not having happened) and tbh (he probably would be fine with just one night stands.) (but Koushiro that’s the wrong way to go about it here, maybe) ok but Taichi’s thinking right here yeah (’don’t be fine with that!!’) - ‘ but Koushiro shuts him up with his next line -- "...But I really wouldn't mind more than that, too." ('Maybe....') ‘ ok so here (dun dun dunnn) Taichi’s giving in yeah ok but also he was probably mentally freaking out thinking like -- Our War Game kind of, you know?? like the Taiora wasn’t canon intended yeah (it was due to staff not knowing about Sorato endgame) and I don’t intend it here either (Taiora’s actually kind of like... close to the very bottom of my ship preferences I’m sorry [even moreso than Koumi tbh there I said it I’d still take Koumi in more certain ways/fanworks I’m just extremely picky with it] and I very much prefer it [too] portrayed only in very specific ways though [same goes for Taiorato though I’m more open to that] like. again. I’m a multishipper I don’t mind fanworks and very much enjoy alternative portrayals too ok please leave me be. it’s just not in here though) but still, a similar feeling - he doesn’t want to screw this up, and definitely not with Koushiro (and this .....)
